JOHANNESBURG - The Justice Department has condemned Umkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu for visiting the Enlightened Christian Gathering in Malawi.
Shivambu attended an Easter church service led by fugitive Shepherd Bushiri.
Bushiri and his wife, Mary, fled South Africa in 2020.
They face charges including rape and fraud.
Government is the process of extraditing them from Malawi.
Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has described Shivambu’s conduct as an act of disrespect towards our legal system.
The MK Party has issued a statement distancing itself from the matter.
