JOHANNESBURG - The Special Investigating Unit has secured an interim preservation order from the Special Tribunal to freeze three properties worth about R8.4-million.
The assets are being targeted to claw back nearly R27-million in public funds looted during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Investigators found that Macronym 37 (Pty) Ltd was awarded a contract to supply the Northern Cape Health Department unlawfully.
Invoices were fabricated, orders massively inflated, tax rules ignored, and stock records simply didn’t exist.
Former department officials Daniel Gaborone and Dion Theys are facing charges of fraud.
