Six of 800 EC healthcare facilities exempted from blackouts

MDANTSANE - Just six of the Eastern Cape's 800 health facilities are exempted from rolling blackouts.

Many of those impacted have no access to generators or other backup power.

This is seriously impacting the provision of healthcare in the province.

Health Minister Joe Phaahla visited the province to assess the impact.

Phaala says while many health facilities are grappling with hours of rolling blackouts, he's optimistic about some of the efforts made to end the energy crisis.
