Solomon Mahlangu’s family challenges apartheid verdict

JOHANNESBURG – Solomon Mahlangu's family is determined to pursue justice decades after his execution, insisting the truth must be fully revealed.

They argue that his trial was unjust and are now pushing for the case to be revisited.
That would be in line with Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations.

Family spokesperson Gideon Mahlangu vowed that the fight would continue even across generations until justice was served.

Meanwhile, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said Solomon Mahlangu never abandoned the struggle. He was speaking during a commemoration of Solomon Mahlangu.

Mahlangu was only 22 when the apartheid government hanged him in April 1979.

“Solomon Mahlangu never sold our revolution. He stood in the gallows firm. He stood there like a soldier. We too, today, in our lifetime, we must pursue a national democratic revolution with discipline, resilience and determination. We must be truthful to our people. We must not become visitors to our people,” he said.
