Son accused of murdering mother, dismembering body

JOHANNESBURG - The recent death of 87-year-old woman from Limpopo has sent shock waves civil society organisation. 

The woman from Sebora Village in Limpopo was murdered and her dismembered body parts discover in a plastic bucket after a neighbor reported her missing. 

The murder incident was discovered on 28 June 2025 at about 15:00.  The woman's son, a 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the crime.

This after police found that he could not give satisfactory explanation of the gruesome act.

Reacting to this murder Advocate Brenda Madumise-Pajibo from Wise4Africa, a women-led advocacy organisation dedicated to fighting gender-based violence says human beings have become desensitised. 

"We think we can take human life away at our will and at any given time. We talk about it, justify why these murders happen. As a country we have become desensitised and immune and normalising these kinds of gruesome brutality," Madumise-Pajibo says. 

Madumise-Pajibo notes that such cases are not isolated and are more common in isolated rural areas and are often ignored. 

At the same time there is limited resources and infrastructures to allow residents in that area can live a meaningful and impactful life
