Soshanguve residents complain over murky water

SOSHANGUVE, TSHWANE - After eight days of dry taps, water is back in Soshanguve but residents say it's of poor quality.

The City of Tshwane says supply has been restored after stalled repairs triggered protests at the weekend. It was the second major water cut in just a month.

But while communities continue to struggle for clean water, precious litres are being lost to leaks and broken infrastructure.

The frustration is evident as residents, some still without water, line the streets collecting the little they can carry from the City’s water tankers.

Local councillors say ageing infrastructure and illegal water connections are to blame.

For now, water tankers remain the communities' lifeline, but even those aren’t guaranteed.

eNCA’s Naomi Kobbie visited the township and filed this report.
