South African Sumud Flotilla activists describe detention at emotional media briefing

JOHANNESBURG  - The six South Africans who were part of the Global Flotilla Sumud say they have no regrets and won’t stop until the Gaza genocide ends.

They’ve recounted some experiences of their treatment when they were intercepted by Israeli forces last week.

The group, together with other activists from around the world, was trying to get aid to the people of Palestine.

Among the activists are Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Mandla Mandela, and activist Reaaz Moola.

Human rights activist Dr Fatima Hendricks detailed the humiliation she and other members of the Global Sumud Flotilla suffered at the hands of the Israeli navy.

She said, “They were obviously given instruction not to harm us but they used every means of humiliation. I’m wearing a shirt on my head. Why?" 

"They refuse woman to wear hijab."

"They will humiliate you. They mock you," Hendricks said.
