Springboks and voter registration | Busy weekend for Nelson Mandela Bay

GQEBERHA - Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in the Eastern Cape has had four different mayors since the 2021 Local Government Elections.

The region has also witnessed a multi-party coalition government plagued by infighting and service delivery has suffered severely as a result.

While residents have the power to vote for positive change in November, there are growing concerns that many won't register or vote.

The provincial COGTA MEC Zolile Williams turned his attention to the youth, urging them to vote.

Nelson Mandela Bay officials said they've pulled out all the stops to try to convince residents to register.

But it remains to be seen whether residents will heed those calls.

Meanwhile, the Springboks will take on the Barbarians in Gqeberha this weekend, a fixture that could also overshadow voter registration in the city.

eNCA's Ronald Masinda filed this report.
