Stage 6 blackouts from 8pm

JOHANNESBURG - Stage 6 blackouts will be implemented from 8pm Tuesday night until 5am on Wednesday morning.

This after the breakdown of six generating units.

Stage 4 power cuts will then resume from 5am.

Eskom says this is being done to ensure sufficient generation capacity is available on Tuesday night.

The utility says dam levels must be replenished so that enough capacity will be available on Wednesday.
