State claims Sibiya's lawyers interfered with witnesses

JOHANNESBURG - The legal team for former Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has wrapped up its bail argument.

Sibiya's lawyer, Estelle Killian, has argued that he is not a flight risk or a threat to witnesses, emphasising that they have not interfered with the complainants.

She urged the court to grant Sibiya bail because his health was at risk.

The State has opposed bail for Sibiya, accusing his defence team of attempting to secure a statement from a witness.

Prosecutors argued that this alleged interference provides plausible grounds for the court to deny his release.
