Suspect arrested for Umlazi mass shooting

DURBAN - A man has been arrested in connection with the recent Umlazi mass shooting.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the suspect was arrested at a Durban shopping mall.

The search is still on for three others.

Netshiunda says one of the suspects demanded his ID document and when people said they haven't seen it, he started shooting randomly.

"After the report of mass shootings, we put together teams to trace the suspects who were identified at the scene," he said.

"We also activated the 72-hour plan to mobilise resources and less than a day after the shooting we arrested one suspect at a mall in Durban."
