Suspect facing murder charge after 6 bodies discovered

The NPA has charged a suspect (20) with one count of murder pending investigation outcomes for the other five bodies.

JOHANNESBURG - A 20-year-old suspect appeared in court on Tuesday following the gruesome discovery of six decomposing bodies in a panel beating shop in the Johannesburg CBD.

The NPA has charged him with one count of murder pending investigation outcomes for the other five bodies.

The matter has been postponed to 18 October and the accused has been remanded in custody pending an identity parade.

Meanwhile, activists say more sex workers may have been abused or killed by the suspect. 

The bodies found are believed to be that of sex workers.

The Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Task Force (SWEAT) says over 30 women are still missing.

It's also calling for harsher sentences for those found guilty of abusing and killing sex workers.
