CATO MANOR - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested several suspected hitmen in possession of high-calibre rifles in Cator Manor.
The arrests follow several high-profile hits, including the most recent when rapper Kiernan Forbes and celebrity chef and author Tebello Motsoane were gunned down in Durban last month.
KZN Community Safety MEC Sipho Hlomuka has commended police and called on community members to work with law enforcement agencies to address the issue of crime.
"The police have arrested criminals who've been carrying guns. We've been alerted by an informant that there are people planning to kill a high profile person in KwaZulu-Natal, in eThekwini then the police did their work," Hlomuka said.
"The police have done their work and prevented one or two lives that might have been lost today. So it shows that police are working and we must appreciate the work they are doing but we're appealing to community members to inform us so that don't react but prevent the killing of our people."
