LENASIA - A police constable accused of using his service pistol to kill an acquaintance claims he was acting in self-defence after an angry mob attacked him.
This defence was not enough to convince the court, as Tshepiso Malepane was denied bail for killing 27-year-old Soweto resident, Lebogang Sekhute.
According to witnesses, it was retaliation after the police officer was reprimanded for sexually harassing a woman in the neighbourhood.
Malepane returns to the Lenasia magistrate's court on 5 November.
