Taxi conflict disrupts air travel from Cape Town

CAPE TOWN - Taxi violence over lucrative routes turned deadly on Friday, leaving nearly a dozen people dead or injured.

While talks continue, commuters in several areas couldn’t get to work because taxis were limited or unavailable.

This severely affected travellers at Cape Town International Airport, as many staff members couldn’t get to work.

But by late afternoon and after hours of long queues, normal airport operations resumed.

ACSA has implemented additional measures, including bringing in additional personnel from other airports but passengers are still encouraged to monitor their flight status directly with airlines or via the ACSA app.
