Tensions rising between US, Europe as Trump wants Greenland

WASHINGTON - Tensions are rising between the US and Europe. At the heart of contention is US President Donald Trump's attempt to grab Greenland.

Trump is refusing to back down while EU leaders hold their ground.

Trump has threatened an extra 10 percent tariffs if the Danish territory is not handed over.

The US President maintains he needs the island for national security.

This is despite a US military presence and a free hand to expand its footprint in the area.

Trump says the tariffs will be increased to 25 percent in June if agreement is not reached.

But, EU leaders are not backing down and will meet in Brussels this week to discuss retaliation.

One of their tools is the so-called Trade Bazooka.

It will impose tariffs on US goods and services that will hurt US tech companies.

They also have the option around 8-trillion dollars of US bonds which will send the US economy spiralling.
