Thabo Bester | DCS to terminate contract with Bloemfontein Correctional Services

JOHANNESBURG - The Correctional Services Department has served Bloemfontein Correctional Services with a notice to terminate its contract to run Mangaung Prison.

The department, after taking legal advice, has given Bloemfontein Correctional Services 90 days to wrap up its running of the prison.

The DCS has kicked off processes to enable it to manage the facility.

This comes after the escape of convicted murderer and rapist, Thabo Bester from the Mangaung facility.
