HOUT BAY - Three suspects have been arrested in Hout Bay for extortion-related crimes.
Intelligence officials raided the suspects' premises on Wednesday morning.
Five firearms, including an AK-47 assault rifle, and ammunition were recovered.
The suspects, aged between 25 and 36, are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court.
They face charges related to the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says the arrests are part of efforts to break extortion syndicates.
