CAPE TOWN - Transport Minister Barbara Creecy is reopening the rail line between Cape Town and Chris Hani
It's a key milestone in restoring Cape Town's strategic Central Line.
It was shut down in November 2019 due to cable theft and widespread vandalism.
Its reopening comes after extensive repair work along key sections of the route.
The Central Line was also plagued by illegal electrical connections and land encroachment.
The restoration forms part of the Presidential Rail Project.
