JOHANNESBURG - A post by United States President Donald Trump is dominating social media, while bringing more unease to the people of Venezuela.
The image, which refers to Trump as Acting President of Venezuela, has had an overwhelming global response.
Brand Reputation Management Specialist Solly Moeng says the post is consistent with Trump’s long-standing use of social media to announce major moves from policy stances to strategic moves by the United States.
Moeng says Trump has always relied heavily on platforms like X formally known as Twitter and later launching his own platform, Truth Social, after being removed.
However, he warns that the post also raises concerns about unchecked behavior on social media.
"This is what happens when too much power rests on the shoulders of one person. He doesn't see the boundaries anymore, he doesn't even see the boundaries of his own American democracy..."
According to Moeng, working for a powerful political brand requires honest and sometimes uncomfortable internal conversations.
