Tshwane Council | Cope unhappy with coalition partners

Cope is shocked and disappointed at Murunwa Makwarela's resignation as Tshwane mayor. It's lashed out at the city's coalition government over the developments.

PREORIA - The Congress of the People has expressed its shock and disappointment over what it calls the unfortunate developments regarding Murunwa Makwarela.

Makwarela resigned as Tshwane mayor on Friday in disgrace after it emerged he'd submitted a fake letter to the city manager declaring he was a rehabilitated insolvent.

Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem says they’re disappointed at the coalition government for not raising the issue earlier. 

Meanwhile, representatives of the multiparty coalition in Tshwane have laid criminal charges against Makwarela at the Brooklyn Police Station.

The DA’s Jacqui Uys says coalition partners are looking into the matter.
