Tshwane mayor says water is not the only source of potential cholera

The outbreak has spread to a third province, with North West confirming two cases.

TSHWANE - Water is not the only possible source of the cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal.

This is what the City of Tshwane says as the number of deaths stands at 23.

Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink has been giving an update on the possible source of the outbreak in Tshwane.

He said, "we’ve called in the assistance of CSIR, Water Institute of SA and MRC. If cases are rising, and of course we haven’t determined the source. We are certainly not giving up. Water is one possible source, the handling of food..."

"We’ve got so many informal food stalls in various parts of Hammanskraal.”
