The association says the City rejected its request to use Vygieskraal Stadium without providing reasons.

And turned down its application to hold the annual street parade on the second of January.

The Cape Town Carnival Association's Sedick Soeker said, "We are fighting for a venue. The City at the eleventh hour turned down our application after we had paid and we were in compliance with the regulations."

Soeker also said the City had rerouted the parade.

The case is set to be heard at 6pm on Monday.
