Two killed in Nigel shack fire, child survives with minor burns

EKURHULENI - Two people have died in a shack fire in Alra Park Extension 3, Nigel, early Sunday morning.

The victims have been identified as a two-year-old baby and a 22-year-old male.

Ekurhuleni firefighters discovered the bodies while responding to the scene, where the shack was found engulfed in flames.

Crews had to extinguish the fire before gaining access to the structure.

An eight-year-old child who was also inside the shack managed to escape and sustained only minor burns.

• The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, and authorities are continuing with investigations.
