Two victims rescued from a near-drowning experience at Baggies beach in KZN

DURBAN - Lifeguards have rescued two victims from a near-drowning experience at Baggies Beach, Kingsburgh in KZN.

While many enjoy Christmas with their loved ones, emergency service workers like paramedics remain on duty.

Garrith Jamieson from ALS paramedicas reports that the two male victims are believed to have been caught in a rip tide.

Jamieson warns that people must take the beach waters very seriously and not undermine their strength. This can lead to some very serious and even fatal outcomes.

He says that people must not enter the waters without being prepared for the challenges they may face such as strong rip tides and currents. Jamieson stressed the importance of a clear mind when people are enjoying themselves at the beach.

"Alcohol breaks families... It is not worth everything that people talk about."

According to Jamieson, there have been far too many incidents that Paramedics have seen where people are suffering from critical injuries, and alcohol bottles are seen right next to the scene of the incident.
