TZANEEN - Residents in Tzaneen, Limpopo, remain frustrated by poor service delivery.
Water shortages in several areas top the list of complaints.
Mayor Odas Ngobeni, just a month into office, is under pressure to deliver improvements before the municipal elections in November.
Ngobeni said the water supply does not meet the demand.
“What is most important is that Mopani (District Municipality), which is the water service authority, is implementing a lot of water infrastructure projects. They are completing a project which is about R200 million and it's said to cover at least 25 villages."
Ngobeni affirmed that the project would be completed in the "next few months".
Another project he referenced is one led by the Department of Water and Sanitation to raise the Tzaneen dam wall by three meters.
Ngobeni said the project aims to increase the dam’s storage capacity to meet growing water demands and improve water security in the Limpopo Province.
“This is very important in terms of helping us to improve on water provision sustainably so that we're able to bring in investors into the town. Because it's only when we have sustainable water provision and sustainable electricity supply that investors come into town and so that we're able to create jobs for our people.
