JOHANNESBURG - University students say government's funding body NSFAS is trying to save its own skin by introducing a R45,000 annual cap on accommodation allowances.

Musa Nekhwevha from the UDM's student movement UDESMO shared his views on We The Nation's debate on the crisis at universities.

"So NSFAS is currently being investigated right now by the Investigating by the Special Investigating Unit to say they're spending money recklessly," Nekhwevha said.

"How convenient is it that they're now implementing the cap to say it's in the best interest of finding suitable accommodation?

"Yet they have not been aware of this issue as it was coming? Because they cannot say it just landed on their faces."
