JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Community Safety HOD Roche Mogorosi has vowed violent behavior cannot be tolerated at schools.
An assortment of weapons, including knives and bullets, was found at schools in Alexandra during a surprise visit by education and police authorities.
"It can't be that you've got learners that are ill-disciplined, learners that are causing damage to state property, and they are seen by other learners at the school premises as if nothing has happened."
According to Mogorosi, one pupil was found with a bullet.
Seven pupils have also been arrested for an earlier torching of East Bank High School.
The developments come as the Gauteng Education MEC works with law enforcement to crack down on crime in schools.
The MEC was flanked by the province's community safety head.

"The police are processing that. We want to follow that learner and understand where the gun is that's associated with that bullet."
Meanwhile, Maile said he was worried about ill-disciplined pupils and teachers.
He has vowed to continue the crackdown on schools across the province for the foreseeable future.
