CAPE TOWN - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says that he has been the centre of attention since KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's explosive media conference.
In the 6 July 2025 media briefing, Mkhwanazi made explosive corruption allegations regarding senior personnel in the South African Police Service (SAPS), including Mchunu.
President Cyril Ramaphosa placed him on Special leave in July after Mkhwanazi alleged the minister has underworld links and accused him of political interference.

Now, during the SAPS Ad Hoc Committee hearings, where Mchunu is the fourth witness, he argued that he is ready to give his side.
“From the 6th of July, I am wearing General Mkhwanazi, from the 6th of July I am smelling General Mkhwanazi and this is the first opportunity I am getting to explain myself, and I am going to do justice to that.”
