WATCH | Call to ban pit bulls as pets in SA

JOHANNESBURG - There are growing calls to ban pit bulls as pets in South Africa.

A petition by The Sizwe Kupelo Foundation has garnered over 20 000 signatures in support of this.

There have been various incidents where seemingly vicious dogs are reported to have mauled young children to death.

Recently a ten-year-old in Nelson Mandela Bay was killed by two of the family’s pit bulls.

The foundation wants the government to restrict the ownership of this breed of dog.
