PIETERMARITZBURG - French arms company Thales and former President Jacob Zuma’s application to have their fraud and corruption charges withdrawn has failed.
Judge Nkosinathi Chili of the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg says he is not convinced that either Thales or Jacob Zuma will suffer irreparable harm due to the deaths of two witnesses.
Thales had sought to have charges withdrawn, arguing that the deceased executives would have been key witnesses.
Zuma, in turn, contended that if Thales's charges were dropped, his own should also be withdrawn.
