WATCH | Crime intervention plan for ECape schools tabled

JOHANNESBURG - The number of robberies at schools in the Eastern Cape has escalated.

Since the beginning of the year, officials at about 131 schools in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro alone were robbed at gunpoint, and this all happened during school hours.

This has forced the province's education department to come up with drastic crime intervention plans.

This will come at a heavy cost of R59m.

eNCA's Nceba Ntlanganiso attended the briefing and filed the report above.
