JOHANNESBURG - The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry is expected to take a two-week-long break before it resumes its proceedings
The Commission's recess will be from 3 September and will resume on 14 September as it works towards its extended deadline for the final report.
The report is due on 16 November 2026.
According to the Commission's spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, the break comes after months of extensive hearings and preparations.
“The team is quite exhausted. As you know, we have been running flat out for many weeks and months. But I think it's also important for us to point out that there is a lot of work that goes into preparing for hearings on a daily basis,” Michaels said.
But this break does not mean that the Commission's work takes a pause.
Michaels emphasised that the legal team and other staff will continue working behind the scenes preparing for the resumption of the inquiry.
