WATCH | No alcohol allowed on Cape Town beaches

Officials say alcohol is a major cause of drownings, disorderly behavior and road fatalities.

CAPE TOWN  - The City of Cape Town says it has enough capacity to deal with the expected large number of people at its beaches this festive season.

Authorities recently confiscated thousands of litres of alcohol at public beaches.

The confiscation is part of several measures the city is using to ensure a safer festive season.
