JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Acting Police Commissioner Fred Kekana has warned against sharing old or false pictures on social media.
This as he has noted a trend where images from old incidents and are being used as though they are recent.
In some instances, he said social media posts allege that the serial killer has moved to another place.
Kekana said this further places residents on edge, adding to the fear that has already gripped communities.
“This does not help us”.
The discovery of a ninth woman’s body in Ekurhuleni has raised fresh concern over the killings.
As residents protest for greater police visibility, Kekana is urging people with information to come forward.
