WATCH: Sitting to elect new Ekurhuleni mayor postponed
JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni will not get a new mayor today.
Councillors have decided to elect a new mayor at the next council sitting.
Ousted Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell was voted out as mayor during a motion of no confidence.
Campbell was accused of neglecting Ekurhuleni residents by not providing services.
The ANC's Mzwandile Masina was expected to make a comeback, but he bowed out of the race to make way for the EFF's Nkululeko Dunga to be elected as mayor.
ANG Gauteng chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi, said coalition discussions are difficult.
"We will be in a position to reach a settlement that is acceptable to parties that want to work with us," he said.
