WATCH | Western Cape govt condemns health sector strike
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Government has condemned the ongoing wage strike by the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union.
The strike led to disruptions at several hospitals and Home Affairs officers.
Critically ill patients were transferred from affected hospitals like Khayelitsha to other facilities for medical care.
But the union warns that the strike will continue until a revised wage offer by the government is put on the table.
Nehawu has rejected the government’s 4.7% wage increase for the 2023/24 financial year, demanding a 10% pay hike.
