BLOEMHOF - Residents living along the Vaal riverbanks are picking up the pieces of their lives.
They have to deal with the river's high levels and possible flooding following the opening of 10 sluice gates at the Vaal Dam.
Scores of residents have evacuated their homes following evacuation warnings from authorities.
The Water and Sanitation Department opened more sluice gates last Friday to maintain the dam’s water level, which is already well beyond 100 percent capacity.
