KUGOMPO CITY - The Waterworld Fun Park in KuGompo City has been earmarked for future redevelopment.
Once a thriving tourist attraction, the facility has been lying in ruins for years.
It's alleged that over R100 million was already spent on revamping Waterworld,
and yet there is nothing to show for it.

Now, it requires a further R200 million, according to Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane, to get it back to operating level.
The defunct project is now the subject of an ongoing Special Investigating Unit probe.
DA Buffalo City Municipality (BCM), Sue Bentley said small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMME) that were working there are claiming that they haven’t been paid for work that has been done.

The Buffalo City Development Agency said they have paid everything to the contractor and that it was the contractor that has not paid the SMME’s.
Bentley said the contractors have disputed this.
Buffalo City Metro mayor Princess Faku said while investigations are still ongoing,
she endorses plans to revive WaterWorld.
Authorities in the Eastern Cape view plans of revamping the now vandalised WaterWorld as a step in the right direction.
However, those involved in businesses there in Buffalo City remain skeptical.
