'We are allies, joined together by blood'- Ramaphosa to the SACP

SOWETO - ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says it’s vital to strengthen the tri-partite alliance even when disagreements arise.

His comments come as the South African Communist Party (SACP) prepares to contest the local government elections independently.

He was speaking at Heroes’ Acre in Soweto during an event hosted by the SACP and its alliance partners to honour Joe Slovo, a towering figure in the country’s liberation struggle.

Ramaphosa maintains that the ANC and the SACP remain allies and that engagements among themselves continue.

"We do not regard the SACP as our enemies, nor do they regard the ANC as their enemies. We are allies joined that are joined together by blood, principle, by ideologies and membership.

"So we will discuss these matters and find a better way of managing this whole process of electioneering," Ramaphosa says.
