JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said the decision to 'reconfigure KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng leadership structures was not hypocritical.
But it was part of the National Executive Committee role to intervene following after historic electoral defeat in the two provinces which he regards as the countries economic hubs.
Mablula was reacting following the update following a two-day NEC meeting in Boksburg.

The meeting was to address ANC’s poor performance in the May 29, 2024, national and provincial elections.
He said the decision to reconfigure the leaderships within the two provinces was guided by the parties mission towards renewal and unity.
Mbalula further dismissed any claims that the decision would create a divide within the party.
