DURBAN - The Democratic Alliance in KZN is holding its provincial congress, and the senior leadership is not mincing its words.
Federal Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance, Solly Msimanga, told the delegates at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban that the party is ready to govern the country.
“We are not, and we will not be part of protecting wrongdoing and corruption,” he said.
He said that with everything that is happening in the country, the ANC’s number of supporters is declining.
He said the party's role in the Government of National Unity remains rooted in defending the Constitution.
Not only has President Cyril Ramaphosa come under pressure from Friday's Constitutional Court ruling on Phala Phala, but the GNU as well.
The DA is the ANC's senior partner in this multiparty coalition.
“We are seeing the final nail in the coffin of uKhongolose. We are ready to lead, and we are ready to even put a DA President in place.

DA Federal leader Geordin Hill-Lewis said the time has come for the party to go beyond being on opposition benches in KwaZulu-Natal.
He said voters have a perfect example of the DA’s track record, and need not look further than their success in uMngeni Municipality.
“The DA job in KZN is not just to be a strong opposition party. That is important and matters deeply. We must continue to expose corruption. But our task now is even bigger than that. We must show every citizen of KZN that under the DA, we can build a better future for SA and KZN and that we are a governing alternative in this province and in this country."
