We are working to get trucks off the road - Mbalula

JOHANNESBURG - Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula says his department has allocated R2.5-billion to expand the N2 in Pongola.

The move comes after a truck crashed into a bakkie on that road and killed 20-people, including 18 children.

Mbalula says the Transport Ministry is also working with the Public Enterprises Department to get trucks off the road and move cargo via trains.

He says police visibility will also be increased.
