WASHINGTON, D.C - United States (US) Secretary of War Peter Hegseth says that the USA has been in conflict with Iran for some time, and only now chose to hit back.
The Islamic Republic has sponsored attacks against America and US allies ever since it came into being in 1979.
He was speaking as a presser on Monday following US-Israel strikes on Iran.

‘We didn't start this war, but under President Donald Trump, we are finishing it’, he said.
Hegseth justified the air campaign against Iran by saying the risk of them developing nuclear weapons had gone on for too long.
He claimed that due to Iran's unrelenting hostility to the USA, they would eventually have struck America with these weapons.
“Iran had a conventional gun to our head as they tried to lie their way to a nuclear bomb,’ he said.
