JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng residents have been urged to use water sparingly -- at least until we get more rain.

Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai gave an update on supply issues in the province on Friday.

He has rubbished claims that the utility is reducing water supply.

Mosai says they have not reduced supply, instead, they have pumped more water into the system.

He says that the country does not have enough of its own water to satisfy growing demand.

South Africa relies on Lesotho for most of its water.
