Weeks without water for Melville residents

JOHANNESBURG - Joburgers are once again taking to the streets over a problem that’s become all too familiar: dry taps.

Communities of Melville, Brixton and Parktown West have endured prolonged water outages this year.

Some have gone over 20 days without a reliable supply.

While Joburg Water said power outages and pump breakdowns are to blame, residents took to the streets, demanding accountability.

And as taps run dry, rubbish bins overflow and City Power struggles to keep the lights on, how will this impact residents when they take to the ballot box on 4 November?
