How safe are staff in Western Cape healthcare facilities?

CAPE TOWN - How safe are staff in Western Cape healthcare facilities?

The Health and Other Services Personnel Trade Union of SA says security is below par.

Between April and June this year, there were 92 physical assaults at provincial facilities.

Anwar Kharwa from the Western Cape health department says over R400-million has been invested in physical security to ensure the safety of staff and patients.

Kharwa says the department has monthly review meetings to see how it can improve security.
