GQEBERHA - 'Wherever we govern, jobs are created in big numbers'.
These were the words of DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis as he addressed communities in Nelson Mandela Bay.
On Monday, Hill-Lewis visited the metro as part of his party's Working for All Tour ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
During the visit, Hill-Lewis said the focus in local government should always be on ensuring that basic services are working in the municipality.
"When those basic things work, something so important happens. The city starts to work. Businesses start to come back. Businesses start to invest. People get into jobs. They get out of poverty. The economy grows and everyone is lifted up..."
Political parties are currently campaigning ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
Applications for special votes opened on Monday.
