MIDDELBURG - The Special Task Force arrested prominent Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni early on Tuesday morning.
Two other suspects were also arrested, while a fourth is still being sought.
The arrests are linked to a businessman’s extortion complaint filed last November.
The name Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni has surfaced in several investigations, including those relating to taxi violence.
The 60-year-old has also been linked to alleged cartel boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
Sibanyoni has built a transport empire in Mpumalanga, reportedly spanning taxis, buses, and logistics operations.
His nickname is said to stem from his preference for luxury and high-performance vehicles.
Sibanyoni launched the Joe Sibanyoni Foundation, aimed at “bridging the economic gap”.
