JOHANNESBURG - The World Health Organization is warning that a measles outbreak is now a threat.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases has confirmed cases in a number of provinces.

Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus.

The NICD says the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on immunisation programmes, resulting in the outbreak.
